Ceramic Lapping Plate

Features  and application: 

Ceramic is one of the super material used as lapping plate thanks to its high hardness and thermo stability, there is very slight thermo expansion so operators don’t have to worry about temperature change will may immediately affect the flatness of the lapping plate and of course the part.  

Several advantages can get using ceramic lapping plates:

1, High stability of geometry shape maintaining 

2,Very low plate wear during process

3,Eliminating all other factors that may cause problem ,for example, for a cast iron lapping plate, any grains or particles  or holes inside the plate may cause problems. So the operator can have a clear direction for process trouble shooting.

4,Much cleaner lapping process than doing with cast iron lapping plate

5,Long term stable process without any special maintain of the plate

Ceramic lapping plate is recommended to be used for the lapping of parts with super requirement of surface finishing as well as flatness, ceramic lapping plate can also work as polishing plates, its super thermo stability make it the best polishing plates than all other materials.

Abrasives like white alumina and silicon carbide and boron carbide e are recommended to be used on ceramic lapping plate to lapping the parts like GaAs, ZnSn, ZnS , Sic, Sapphire and for some  special soft metals, very fine lapping on ceramic plate can make a perfect no scratching  fine lapped surface, which can easily make a shinning surface by further step polishing .

Additional Information: 

1, The flatness of the ceramic lapping/polishing plates are controlled into less than 3um before delivery

2,Both assembly type and solid type ceramic lapping /polishing plates are available, customer will need to send to us the base  or the drawing of the plate.

3,It is suggested to use ceramic ring to do plate recondition 

4,LSTD is providing quick reconditioning service on ceramic lapping plate ,customer just send to us the deformed plate, we’ll send back with a super flat plate very quickly.
